Background

The Aviation Student Leadership Award was the first and longest running award provided by the OSU Aviation Alumni Society. The award was made possible due to the hard work and contributions of many society members. Of note, AAS pioneer and long time board member and advisor Stacy Weislogel made great advancements to the award. Professor Stacy Weislogel served as an OSU faculty member from 1968-2006 in a number of different positions. He progressed to the rank of full professor in 1979, and served as Chairman, Department of Aviation (1982-1990), as Associate Dean (1990-2006) and Interim Dean (1992) in the College of Engineering. He received faculty emeritus status upon his retirement in 2006.
In 2023 the OSU Aviation Alumni Society Board of Governors initiated a name change of this award to recognize Stacy Weislogel's outstanding leadership and contributions to Ohio State Aviation. The award is funded by gifts to the OSU Foundation Fund No. 316644 and is managed by the OSU Aviation Alumni Society (AAS) Board of Governors.
